Hey everyone: I am glad to have found a Lost blog site that looks as nice as this one.
Here are some things to notice from the Season finale… let me know what you think!!
1. Did you hear Jack say “Bring my father down here and if I am more drunk you can fire me!” His father is dead on the island… why is he alive in the future? Is anyone dead then?
2. I know Naomi says that the flight has been found… but remember she could be lieing.
3. Ben’s position is weird. He heard the threat that Jack would kill him but the plan was to spare the three Lostee’s life and make Jack believe they are dead. This in turn would cause Jack to contact the outside world! Also, Jacob told Lock to “help me.” I think Ben is bringing a new group onto the island or perhaps more troops and is no longer working on behalf of the island.
4. In the last future clip, Kate says “I can’t be gone long or you know he will notice.” What’s that about? Is HE Sawyer, Ben, or a new character from a boat.
Let me know what you all think!
I really like your thoughts on Ben. You are totally right with that. From day one he has known exactly what he was doing with every decision he has ever made. He is like a chess player, knowing what every opponents next 12 moves will be. He definitely wanted Naomi to contact her boat, and he knew that the last thing to do if you want to get Jack to not go to the tower would be to kill his friends, so he clearly knew what he was doing.
As far as Jack saying “bring my father down here…” I think that was just him saying how drunk his father always was when he was alive, and that didn’t compare to the state that Jack was in at the time. I think it was more like a “my father was such a drunk that hes still wasted even now in death.”
With Kate saying “He,” i think they want you to think its sawyer, but its actually not. I really have no clue who it is, so I’d love to hear people’s theories.
Honestly, that might have been the best episode ever. I love how they are changing the way the series is moving, although I really liked the idea of the island being purgatory and that they were all actually dead. It is really giving Heroes a run for its money.
On a different note, is anyone pissed about the fact that the next 3 seasons are only 16 episodes? I agree they should do it the way that 24 does it without a break, but still, there needs to be at least 20. 4 months is not enough.
No, I don’t think that was what Jack meant-”my father was such a drunk that he is still wasted..” I think that it was a clue that the segment is not really happening.
I agree that Ben is setting up a new confrontation-maby for his own benefit-to start over fresh.
Is it possible that Kate’s “He” that she has to get back to is a child she has with Sawyer? He did make a crack about her possibly being pregant in the finale.
My money says Sawyer is the guy in the casket.
I’m thinking Jack’s flash forward is at least 2 seasons away. He’s been flying around alot and has developed one hell of a drug addiction… With Ben, I think he made the call to kill the 3 guys at the beach, but Tom changed the plan. I think Ben really thought they were dead…Not sure what to think about Walt coming back but I do think He and Locke have some sort of connection. It’s probably Locke or Sawyer in the casket. One quetion, What song is Jack listening to when he is driving to the funneral?
Did we ever actaully see jack’s father’s body? Is it possible he is alive?
Also, at the hospital, the woman in the carwreck, it wasn’t Juliet’s siter-was it?
For Jack to have fallen apart this badly, there must have been a series of really awful decisions along the way and simply brutal times ahead in the next three seasons.
I thought the casket looked small-almost to make you believe it was Walt or one of the women. But I guess we’ll have to wait until some unspecified time between now and 2011 to find out.
On a more random note…if Sayid ever asks you to tie his shoes for him…don’t.
Hey all,
I really like the idea that “he” which Kate says is a baby! It makes perfect sense. I mean… we know that if you hook up on the island you get pregnant. Jin and Sun… Ben also says he keeps Carl away from Alex so she doesn’t get pregnant. Soooo… I am thinking that Kate is pregnant.
Also, we do know that Jack’s dad is dead. He was being brought back to CA in the casket and I think you do see his dead body in the first season.
And… someone said the casket looks small. Running with that idea, could it be that it is baby Aaron (spelling???)? Jack could be upset that his half nephew who he isnt really family with and barely knows has died. Just an idea.
I have a group of friends that usually get together and watch Lost. Something we have talked about is the episode where those two subcharacters do the whole diamond hunt on the island. Well Lock says something that stuck with us… he said, “Nothing on this island stays buried.” Some in the group think that this means that the dead dont really die or can come back to life on the island. I dont know about that.
Finally, what about the black smoke security alarm system? In the preshow with the directors, they said it takes like some sort of pictures of your character and then is able to use that such as Walt showing up again on the island. But Ben’s others group doesnt like it or dont control it because the pylons seemed to be set up also to stop it… the episode where Kate and Juliet are handcuffed and left in the woods. Soo… what’s up with the black smoke… who controls it?
Thanks!

Just discovered this site and love it. One point: Naomi isn’t the only one who said all the castaways were dead. Locke’s father said the same thing. So either there is some concept of multiple realities going on, or there is one real world where some wreckage was found. Did Ben have that wreckage planted? Did Dharma help do it? Other suspects? Or are they truly in hell? And now that we had this “flash forward” episode, with Jack’s Dad apparently alive, will next year be set in some other hell? Or some alternate reality? God, what a great show!
I’m pretty sure that the producers have specifically confirmed that they are not all dead, so I don’t think they’re in hell. I don’t think Jack’s dad is alive either; I believe that was just him not being in his right mind when he said that.
The most likely explanations (IMHO) for everyone on the outside believing that are the cover-up theory and the alternate timeline theory.
If it’s a cover-up, I’m betting on Whidmore covering it up because they want to take over the island for their own purposes, and thus do not want anyone else finding it while searching around for a crashed plane, so they produced one to make those searches unnecessary. I could be wrong, but at this point I don’t believe that Ben has the kind of off-island resources to pull it off.
A bit less likely but still definitely fitting with the show would be some sort of time divergence, where the plane actually did crash but the island reached into the timeline and pulled out the plane when it crashed, so that it existed both on the island and in the outside world because of the island’s time warping abilities.
