Yeah, it’s definitely an ongoing theme with the majority of the characters on the show. Add Locke to the list, obviously, as well as Walt, and Desmond to some degree (although his conflict was with Penny’s dad).
I’m pretty sure the producers have talked about this theme a lot on the official podcast.
