It might be fiction, but it gives us some some insight into the possible objectives of the Dharma project. The French have been looking into this for a while now. Why the French?? Male pregnancy has several advantages. Shorter gestation period. Estimates between 3-5 months. So if the urgency is to re-populate quickly. Male pregnancy is optimal. This frees the female population to perform the dual task of nurturing…one to many…and to wage war. French studies have shown that the female mind is superior when it comes to tactical planning in waging war…and in the case of the French…less likely to surrender.
