More random theories / predictions

  • The plan is to have Michael lead the “army” to the location he described, and while they are away, Claire’s baby will be kidnapped.
  • I also suspect that when they get to the “camp”, there won’t be a huge fight scene. They’ll probably be totally taken by surprise and just end up getting another lecture from Zeke, who will somehow have them in a compromising position (either having a hostage again or something else) and all they’ll be able to do is listen. Either that or the place will be empty, and they will try to break into the doors, possibly with dynamite, and the season would then end again with them opening that hatch.
  • Eko’s dreams are being influenced by outside forces, whether it’s “the others”, the (former or active) Dharma people, or whoever else may be controlling the “smoke monster”. I think he’s being manipulated to act the way that he does, starting way back with the daughter of the psychic, who was probably also manipulated by the project. In any event, I don’t think that he’s actually getting supernatural guidance from his dead brother, it just appears that way to him.
  • I still think Libby was either an “other” or working for the project in some way (if they are two different groups). I think now they might even reveal it in this season, now that she’s dead.

This last one isn’t a theory or prediction so much as just a gripe, but I think I’m done watching trailers for the next week’s episode. Now that we’ve seen this week’s episode, we know that they are willing to do the “dream thing”, so now you never even know whether what you’re seeing is really going to happen. But even that is better than that stupid Canadian spoiler trailer for this week’s show; I think I would have enjoyed the Locke/Eko scene a lot better if I didn’t already know that headbut was going to happen.

So then we get to the promo we just saw for next week; I think we can safely predict that the pretty much all the scenes we see of Michael and the other location, the bearded guy, etc. are all flashbacks to when Michael originally went there and was captured with them, not events that will happen in the future.

What I would really love is if the producers were in charge of doing the previews rather than the networks, because they’re really botching them up in my opinion.

    Few comments to hypothesis:

1 Michael leading army; likely, but I think Jack and the other will take the lead, then Michael and Locke will stay behind. Michael will either not be able to execute his traitorous plan or knock out Locke and show the others the door in. Why is Michael doing this though, that’s what’s worrying me? Blackmail from the others to keep Walt alive? Michael seemed very guilty about his actions when Hurley spoke with him, especially after he says “I’m glad you’re okay man”. Poor Hurley.

2 I doubt there will be a great fighting scene too. I think there will be a major plot twist. If it ends with them opening another hatch, critics will slay the writers for “unoriginality” and they know people will dislike them for it. Would be somewhat funny and ironic though. Annoying, but funny.

3 The only way I think the “Eko’s dreams” section would be correct is if, the “Miracle family” worked with the others. Which is not as farfetched as it may sound as I think the father of that family is the same guy who advised Claire to go to L.A.? If this is the case, then surely the black cloud would also have an important role in this as well. (Remember the flashes of memory pics when Mr. Eko stared right at it.) Brainwashing Eko to believing his past is real?

4 I’d be very suprised if we found out that Libby was an other. I think it’s more likely she has something to do with Hurley’s past, and hopefully we’ll find out more.

What I felt particularly odd though was how in the “?” episode Mr. Eko sounded more like Locke, and Locke sounded alot like Jack. Locke’s entire perception of the island appears to have been shattered in this episode and I am looking forward to what’s going to happen next from Locke’s point of view.

One thing we know for sure though is that the season will most likely want to try an top the “what’s down the hatch”-cliffhanger.

I don’t think Libby is an “other,” either. It showed her in the mental hospital with Hurley, so it doesn’t seem like she could be, right? Why do you think that? I hope we find out how they’re connected. They’ll probably use that story as filler for the finale and wait until the last minute to give us anything good! Also, I’d be interested to see if the psychic dad is the same psychic that influenced Claire - I hadn’t thought of that…

My theory on Libby being in the hospital is that it was an act. Her real reason for being there was to watch Lenny (the guy who kept saying the numbers over and over), and make sure he didn’t leak any info to anyone, since I believe he was formerly involved with the project.

Somewhere along the line her mission changes (not sure if it’s pre or post crash), and now her duty is to get close to Hurley and find out how much he might know, how much Lenny told him (if anything), etc.

The psychic is definitely the same guy, I called that one the minute I heard his voice, and then seeing his face confirmed it, although it looks like he’s put on a bit of weight.

As for the cliffhanger, I agree that opening the hatch would be a sucky one. My new prediction on that is that we will finally see Walt, and he will either (A) not be under the control of the “others” or (B) not want to return to the Losties’ group.

I can see where you’re coming from on Libby. Watching the episode again I realise that at the end Libby disrupts Mr. Eko and the daughter’s conversation asking if everything is okay after Mr. Eko slightly raises his voice, which is a very odd unless she would have a connection with the others. However, I still don’t think she has any connection with the others, but I guess that’s more of a personal hunch than a factual statement.

I feel so sorry for Hurley though. :(
I hope Michael will suffer big time at some stage soon. (grrrr.)

Yeah, my theory is just a hunch too. No real facts to back it up, just me suspecting something and then finding any possible evidence that could be interpreted to support it, and hoping no evidence comes up that actually rules it out. So far, so good. :)
