I’m not sure whether it said for certain that the woman he was arguing with was the mother of the daughter that Jack was trying to see, but if so, I don’t think the daughter could be Claire, because that chick did not look old enough to be Claire’s mom, assuming Claire is in generally the same age range as the other Losties.

I thought he said something about seeing his daughter, I’ll have to rewatch it.

Claire totally looks younger, 19-22 and that lady totally looked 40 so it works with my math. Especially if Jack’s dad liked the younger ladies in his cheating/drinking days.

He also said he pays for the mortgage making it seem like he’s somehow still connected, maybe through child support.

I didn’t say he wasn’t looking for his daughter, (I got that impression too), I was just saying that I doubt that the daughter could be Claire for several reasons:

#1 - I still think she looks pretty young to have a 19-22 year old daughter; not impossible, but unlikely.

#2 - I don’t believe Claire was living with her mom before the flight. It seemed like she was with the guy that dumped her and then with her girlfriend. I could be remembering that incorrectly, but I’m not sure.

This scene seemed to happen within a couple days (maybe one week) of the flight, so I just don’t think (with the back story we’ve seen on Claire so far) that it fits. I’m not saying it’s impossible, just that I don’t see any evidence that would lead me to even think of it as a possibility.
