The "him" is definitely someone higher up than Zeke (the fake beard guy), since in the Claire episode Zeke (not his real name, I know) refers to "him" when talking to Ethan, and it sounds like he's afraid of him. Henry didn't mention the blast door map to Locke for one of two reasons: either... (A) He doesn't know about it - it could just be that the lights turn on under certain circumstances, and whoever the authors of the map were (there appear to be multiple layers of notes written over the original map) drew it there because they knew about the black lights coming on periodically (or under certain circumstances) and it was their way of hiding the map from anyone else seeing it, assuming they were always the only people in the lockdown area when the lights appear. or (B) He knows all about it, but wants to keep up the "playing dumb" act with Locke. He doesn't want Locke to suspect that he is playing all these mind games with him, so he always presents a very innocent (even "bumbling") persona when dealing with Locke. It probably just suits his purposes better for now to have John totally frustrated, and he is currently playing it by coming off like he isn't very knowledgeable of anything that's going on behind the scenes, especially when dealing with Locke. I do agree with the theory about him being associated with Desmond so much that he could be the reason why Desmond left in the first place, to go after Henry and maybe get back at him in some way. But that goes against the theory about Desmond being the person who sets up the experiment which is a reason for dissapearing.
