My theory on the food delivery

Haven’t seen this anywhere else yet (not that I look anywhere else anyway), so I thought I’d stake my claim to it here: I suspect that the food package was pulled onto shore from the sea magnetically - no plane involved.

It may be that it was dropped from a plane very very high up - that would explain why no one on the beach or near the hatch saw it - but that the magnet in the hatch guided the drop to a spot where it could be found easily by the person restocking the hatch.

Nah, I’m still betting on no plane.

Magnetic? There must be a lot of iron in that food for that to happen since I never saw a metal palate.

It was underneath all the food.

Oh yeah, if it was done by a magnit how would it be placed there without a big cut through the jungle? So it was lefted into the air then dropped, right?

so was the food under water or from a ship far off?

    You’re joking right?

It was some sort of focused, controlled magnetic force (”monster-like”) that could lift it.

My bet is that it was underwater, then either lifted up on a platform or ship before delivery or shot into the air towards the island and the magnets were used to slow the descent as it fell.

But who says there wasn’t a cut through the jungle? I don’t think it showed either way…

Yes, I am just joking, kind of. Just saying that it’s just as likely (perhaps moreso) that there was no plane, since none of the many people on the island saw or heard it.

OK, after thinking about it more, my new theory is that the food is actually stockpiled somewhere (either on the island or nearby), and the people delivering it want to make it *appear* to be dropped from a plane.

The food is probably not stockpiled on the island already. That would mean that years ago all the food was put there for the length of whatever project or experiment is going on in all of the different hatches/stations. Yes, the food keeps for a long time, but how long?

One way to think of it is to look at the washing machines. Those are newer model washing machines - a character even pointed this out - so it is unlikely that all the supplies for the island were stockpiled there long ago. Someone keeps sending stuff to the island from somewhere else.

The island stockpile could always be replenished on a less frequent basis from external sources. As I said in the other post, the Dharma ranch dressing apparently lasts an unnaturally long time, even without refrigeration. Same probably goes for the rest. Even if things needed to be frozen or refrigerated, they could have giant freezers on or under the other parts of the island or nearby (perhaps underwater :) ) facilities.

Ya, I know they’ve got the washing machines, but those could be several years old and probably would not be delivered via parachute anyway.

It’s no big deal if it does turn out to be just a regular plane drop, as it appears, but I just like to think about the other possibilities.

Surely magnetically would have whacked down a few trees along with the process. I dunno, I’m gonna have to go with dancameron on this one.

It does make you question though if this initiative is still up an running regardless of who is involved or rather not involved. And it does give alot of credibility points to the hypothesis that everything is just one gigantic experiment to see if people actually would push this button ever 108 minutes.
