I’m going to try to keep everything separated into separate posts limited to just one topic, so that the comments are easier to keep track of and stay on subject.
After last night’s episode, I am really liking the Hurley character even more. With the comment about the new washing machines (in Fire + Water) and now last night’s comment/joke about the time travel thing, I get the feeling that the writers kind of use him just to mess with the all the people that they know are so obsessed with Lost theory.
I do, however, think that he knows more than he’s letting on, so it will be interesting to see where they go with him. The producers have said the issue of his weight loss (or lack thereof) will be addressed in the show at some point, which will be interesting.
I also wonder whether anyone else on the island knows about his lottery winnings, and if so, why they aren’t letting on about it yet. If I was to make a really far out stretch of a theory, I’d say that Hurley somehow knew something about the setup and is a part of it, just as kind of a game or something, that he can afford to pay for a lot of the setup on.
According to the ultimate theory he was destined to input the numbers, I don’t really care for this theory but it is interesting. maybe Jason would want to talk about it more. About the writers using Hurley as a con for all of us “fans” is a very interesting take on who and what he does on and for the island, which is nothing. Anything makes sense with this character.
Hurley for me is one of my favorite characters, he is really personable and gives the show a little humor, something the other characters just don’t have.
you might have not noticed the tagging feature under the post field but I would really recommend you tag, it’s not just for organizing anymore.
Ultimate theory? I’m not sure what you mean on that…
Although I do enjoy the joking with the fans via his dialog, I do hope that it turns out that he does know something more than what they’ve revealed so far.
I am a big movie buff and I noticed that the storyline concerning Hurley and the fact that he see’s dead people sounds a lot like the plot from an old classic movie called Harvey. This movie starred Jimmy Stewart back in 1950 the plot was about a man who saw a 6 foot rabbit and he ended up being placed in a mental hospital by his family. His family ended up taking control of all his assets. I also found out that the six foot rabbit he sees was inspired by a mythological creature called the Puka. The Puka is a creature that appears to wayward travelers. In this movie it appears as a rabbit but in mythology it usually appears as a black horse. This movie to me seems to be the inspiration for Hurley’s character as well as the encounters Kate has with the black horse. Please let me know what you think of my theory?
